Located at the west of Alice Springs and thus far from Utopia which the preceding exhibition illustrated, the Pintupi territory is still the red desert, but the pictorial “language” to say the Dream is completely different.
Pintupi paintings, an own language of these communities, seems more stripped than that of Utopia. The more austere law of its representations does not support embellishment. The tons are also of an elementary sobriety, black and brown, yellow and red. Nuances of clay from the significant “map” for their authors whereas it is their abstraction which strikes the external glance.
